Hmm…. nope… i think i’d be a wuss and get scared. If it was 100% safe maybe but at the moment i do not like the idea of being strapped to what looks like a giant firework 😉
Few years ago I was trying to get an internship at European Space Agency.. haven’t get it, but I still have the application form on my computer disc and among the question they asked, so ‘why you want to work for us’? So that’s part of my answer:
‘Maybe that’s sounds trivially but as far as I can remembered I loved looking at the sky and up to the stars. As a child I was dreaming about being closer to stars. In my university time I’ve been spending many hours at Physic Departments and there I’ve ‘discovered’ how to realized my child dreams – I’ve found out astrophysics. On the other hand I’m fascinated with material: especially superconductors. At first, they may seem to be two different interests but I’ve made next ‘discovery’.. I would tell a lie, if I say, I’ve never dream about space travel. But now, I think that equally great idea is: material, which I invent or analyse, if that material could travelled to space, amazing!’
That’s what I wrote to them few years ago.. and I think it’s just a matter of a time;) new superconductors might be useful at space shuttle, maybe;)
