What can I say? People are all different. The only interesting thing to say is that my dad, who is over 50 years old, has never burped. He also did not like us doing it as children, so neither my brother nor I do really either. That is not to say he doesn’t pass wind in other ways (ewww!) but he doesn’t burp!
I don’t really have any real scientific explanation for your question – but all I can say is that I think it might be something to do with the mixture of acids in the stomach? It’s a bit gross but whenever I get the burps I know it’s because I’ve got indigestion and this normally comes from eating too many foods such as tomatoes/orange juice and sometimes lots of onions.
Again, note, I don’t have any proper evidence to back up my above claim, it’s just personal experience, but from that I would suggest that your friend doesn’t have a very acidic stomach?! And that’s just fine!
That must be really useful when visiting people for dinner and want to make a good impression. Burping then can be very embarrassing.
But I’m afraid I don’t know why either.
To be honest i do not know why your friend can not burp, but i also have a friend who can not burp so i completely believe you and if it makes her feel any better astronauts in space can not burp either. 🙂
