• Question: what was the hardest problem you had to solve

      There have been lots of hard problems…

      Some of them are because physics gets pretty complicated, as does the maths you need to do it. Trying to get your head around these things can require a lot of time and concentration.

      Other problems are more to do with getting all the detectors working, and making sure our computer programs are reading the data properly. No one’s ever made things quite like ours before, so there’s no one you can ask for the right answer… you have to discover it for yourself. This can be quite frustrating sometimes when you get stuck.

      Of course, these things also make it exciting and worth doing. Solving complicated problems and doing things no one has ever done before can be very rewarding!
