That is a good question because it is not something that involved my job. One of my family members had an accident and was very badly hurt. I was very worried and so i researched his injuries, using all the skills i have learned from my research studies. I found all the information i could on the best therapy techniques and methods and then i practiced these with him for 3 months, after which a specialist said he hadn’t seen a recovery that good from an injury that bad before so it felt that all my efforts had been worthwhile.

When you can help someone in a truly meaningful way, it is the most rewarding thing i think you can do.

      Good question!

      Getting through my degree!

Four years of study, particularly the exams at the end of each year, was very hard work.

You have to be really keen on what you’re studying when you go to University or you won’t enjoy it.

I think (scientifically) my biggest achievement is that I managed to get through my degree whilst still doing things that I like doing: taking photos, going to the cinema, socialising, volunteering and being involved with student politics. A lot of the time I thought I was never going to make it, but I did in the end! Also some people didn’t have faith that I could do it, which made me more determined to.

Being strong enough to do what you want to do with your life is something that Oxford has taught me, and it is something I think everyone should aspire to!

      Hmmm…that is a good question!
As with Peta, I don’t think my “biggest achievement” would be to do with my job either – however, it’s not as meaningful as Peta’s either…

After my final year at University I decided that I fancied a bit of an adventure, and I knew I already had a job lined up for the September, so I decided to do a little tour of Europe (as I hadn’t really been anywhere abroad by myself before). I set myself a budget of £1500 which was money I’d somehow managed to save whilst being at University (I worked every summer holiday since I was 16 and did some work whilst at Uni too, so I felt that was quite an achievement so I decided to spend it all, haha!) and I travelled around Europe for a month. The achievement bit of this comes in a few places:
      a) We didn’t get lost once!
      b) All the planning (there was a lot of planning involved) paid off and everything went to schedule
      c) Came back on budget and even managed to squeeze in a gondola trip in Venice and see AC Milan play Lazio at the San Siro!

For me, they were all quite major achievements, as I had visions of it all going horribly wrong!
