The National Aeronautics and Space Administration is the American organisation for space research… including going there.
The European equivalent is ESA – European Space Administration. The UK contributes to a lot of its work, though the UK Government refuses to fund any work related to putting people in space.
The UK is the only country in the world which used to have the ability to launch satellites, but doesn’t any more.
