A heart transplant is when they put a healthy heart from someone who has passed away into someone who’s heart is diseased in some way. This is very difficult to to, the heart has to be taken out almost immediately after death and got to the hospital very quickly and kept cold.

Although some people have moral objections to being an organ donor, it is one way to give an amazing gift to someone you will never know after death. The operation is very very complex (the body can reject other people’s organs) but are often life-saving if they work.
