• Question: It has been 10 years and Harry Potter's scar is still there? Why is this ? Surely, it would have healed by now ? Love Jess and Cat ( Harry Potter fans! )

Scar tissue is different to normal tissue, for example hair can’t grow on it, so even after many years they can still be visible. Depending on how serious the initial wound was, some scars can last for a long time, or even for life.

Cuts and scares can heal at different rates, depending on many things such as blood platelets. Some people’s cuts would clot quicker than others. Scars however can last a lot longer. I cut myself when younger and still have the scar on my arm now, still visible.

I’m not claiming that my scare is in anyway as cool as Harry’s but I think that’s probably the reason, sometimes they can still be seen many years later. The initial wound inflicted by You Know Who was quite serious…

I can’t remember, at the end of the final film was his scar still there when he was grown up?! I should check this out…

It’s a magic scar, as far as I can remember. It was explained in one of the books, maybe 2?
