I love being in the lab! I think it is really the best bit, or at least the most fun. If you ask me, when i have been in there for a few months though i might answer differently 🙂 Also when in my lab we often have music on and a group of us working towards the same goal so there is a good team spirit… at the early hours of the morning it can be a bit challenging though 😉

My “lab” is more of a control room – so I get a real buzz by being in there – there’s lots going on. Many screens, flashy lights, big red buttons etc etc. There’s a real feeling of teamwork when everyone is together and you get the accelerator to work – it’s great.

The majority of my time is spent in my office (I share it with a few others) but it’s generally quite quiet, which is what I like as it allows me to concentrate. There’s a small actual lab downstairs where my colleagues work though, they do lots of electronics-y stuff in there that I don’t claim to understand, but we take our coffee break in the comfy corner of it, so it’s nice to see the “conventional” lab environment every now and again!
