      I guess your description is pretty accurate. As a PhD student I do see my supervisor on a daily basis though, and often he will have ideas for me to try. I can say yes or no to these, depending on my mood!

      At the moment I also have more specific tasks to do, like organising our laboratory for younger members of the group to use, ordering equipment and supervising new people.
